Verbs: Simple Past is the forty-second (assuming left to right) skill in the Dutch language tree. This skill contains nine lessons that deal with the simple past, the other common past tense in Dutch. This one is commonly used in writing and formal speech, rather than the present perfect.

Tips and notesEdit

For the most part, these forms for the simple past need to be memorized (sorry). There are the regular endings -ten and -den. The choice between them is similar to the choice to end a past participle with -d or -t. After that, just use -e for singular and -en for plural.
