Future 2 is the fifty-ninth skill in the language tree for Welsh. It contains five lessons and teaches how to use the "short form future tense", which is a simpler way of using the future tense.

Grammar NotesEdit

The "short form future tense" uses endings on the verbs themselves to show the future tense unlike the future tenses using bod and gwneud as auxiliaries. The endings and verb changes are illustrated below using the verb can:

English Welsh statement Welsh question Welsh negative
I will sing Cana i Gana i? Chana i ddim
You will sing Canwch chi Ganwch chi? Chanwch chi ddim
You will sing Cani di Gani di? Chani di ddim
He/She will sing Caniff/Canith e/o/hi Ganiff/Ganith e/o/hi? Chaniff/Chanith e/o/hi ddim
We will sing Canwn ni Ganwn ni? Chanwn ni ddim
They will sing Canan nhw Ganan nhw? Chanan nhw ddim

Notice the soft mutation for questions and the mixed mutation in negatives.
