Going To is the twelfth (assuming read left to right) skill in the language tree for Welsh. This skill has four lessons, and the majority of this lesson teaches the verb mynd as an auxiliary for the future tense, as well as a verb of motion.

Grammar Notes[]

Mynd i is a verb used to show the future tense. Just use it like any other verb:

  • Dw i'n mynd i fwyta siocled. = I am going to eat chocolate.

It also means "to go", in which the i means "to":

  • Dw i'n mynd i'r traeth. = I am going to the beach.

In both cases, the word after i is affected by soft mutation (hence fwyta above instead of bwyta)
